Dokuz Eylül University Institute of Educational Sciences was established pursuant to the “Decree Law No. 3837 on the Amendment of the Higher Education Institutions Organization Decree Law No. 2809 and the Decree Laws No. 78 and No. 190,” which was enacted on July 3, 1992[^1].
According to Article 9 of this Decree Law, the provision h of Article 18 of Law No. 2809 was amended, and the Institute of Educational Sciences was added among the institutes affiliated with the Rectorate of Dokuz Eylül University[^2]. The Institute commenced its organizational activities without enrolling students in January 1993, and officially started its academic programs in the spring semester of the 1998-1999 academic year.
By the Rectorate’s letter dated January 8, 1999, numbered B.30.2.DEÜ.0.70.72.01.504-055, a total of 21 graduate programs, including 16 programs (9 master’s and 7 doctoral) transferred from the Social Sciences Institute and 5 programs (3 master’s and 2 doctoral) transferred from the Institute of Science, along with 322 students, were transferred to the Institute of Educational Sciences[^3].
Currently, the Institute operates 54 graduate programs across 11 departments, providing education to approximately 1,072 master’s and doctoral students. Throughout this process, academic excellence, scientific ethics, and interdisciplinary collaboration have remained fundamental principles of our Institute.
